You know what's a bummer?
August.
August is a bummer, because it holds the best and the worst of the summer.
The best of the summer, the sweet, juicy tomatoes, the beautiful beach days, farm festivals ... and the worst of the summer, the slow descent of mercury in the thermometer, the lining up of pencils and notebooks and bookbags on the kitchen table ... the end of the summer. You don't know what to wear and how early in the evening it will get cold, you wonder, "What on earth did I do all summer, and where has it gone?!"
But thankfully, *thankfully*, after summer comes autumn, and you know how I feel about autumn, yes? Pumpkin patches, carving parties, plaid flannel and scarecrows, hayrides with adorable nephews, sweaters and corduroy, and often, new songs.
I have had a wonderful summer with you. You have been so supportive, so yummy to me, and it's been lovely to see you. I hope you'll stick around for the autumn.
The calendar is filling up, and I hope to get to see so many of you! Please take a look at the calendar on the "tour" page, and let me know if there's a venue you'd like me to consider. Also, if you see I'm in your area and think you might like to host a house concert, please be in touch! I will help you plan the whole thing and it will be so wonderful and make you so happy, your cheeks will hurt from smiling. I promise.
Now back to the scheduled program of trying to eat all of these tomatoes before they rot!
My garden done me good.
Sweetness of the dusk of summer to you,
Carrie
